Driving to the Cloud Cap trailhead on Mt Hood through the Gnarl Ridge Burn meant there were lots of folks parked by the side of the road to chop wood.
Started off in the woods, in the shadow of the canyon.
The trees started to thin out.
And now heading up to the shelter.
The scattered pines and large boulders also function as useful windbreaks.
Pitching my tent behind a handy boulder.
The spectacular view.
